Rick Scores a Pair of 6 figure sales with Back to Back Domain Deals

Morning Folks!!

Not often you get two separate 6 figure deals at the exactsame time.  But on Monday afternoon that wasexactly what happened. The first one I can not release the details of as yetonly to say it was just under $200k. The second one was SydneyHotels.com that I hand registered early on for $100 and sold for $100,000. Bothdeals were clean, hassle free and met my criteria. Both parties found me. It just keeps validating what I have said since the day I got on the net. "Domains will go up faster in value than any other asset in the history of mankind."  Never believed, yet never challenged. Theory turns into fact and it gets validated with nearly every reported domain deal.

I hope to report on the details in the upcoming weeks and will be releasing some .other news in the coming days.

Have a GREAT Day!
Rick Schwartz

Bido: Minimum Bid Now $38

Published by Sahar Sarid on April 30, 2010in Bido. Quick update on pricing change at Bido. Starting today, new inventory’s minimum price is US $38, replacing the minimum before which was US $28. We continue to experiment in order to find the best format for both buyers and sellers.

A side note to our sellers: We have buyers wanting revenue producing domains. If you have any, even if low producers, list with Bido.

A side note to our buyers: A tough economy provides a great opportunity to buy great inventory at a fraction of what it used to go for. It happened in 2001, and it is happening again today.

Best,

Sahar

Bido Is Closing Down (And Yes, The Site Is For Sale)

Published by Sahar Sarid on May 4, 2010in General. As you have probably heard by now, Bido is closing down (more story links at NameBee, Domaining.com). In short, it just did not work for us. I should add, this does not mean we couldn’t have made it work in six months or a year or two, just that we were tired of trying so hard, and decided to move on. Surprisingly, within minutes after our announcement, offers to buy the site and technology have been pouring in (current offers range is in six figures US$). If there is someone who wants to give it a shot, we welcome it with open arms. Contact Jarred Cohen (Jarred

DOMAINfest Live Auction has come to an end…thank goodness! This being my first live auction I will admit I am exhausted. Right now I am up in the room, taking a break and catching my breath. In just a few minutes I will head back down for a few hours more of networking and dinner and of course an after party or two.

With over 100 attendees and a packed house for the keynote speaker, Jay Berkowitz, this has been a great event.

Here are the results of today’s auction:

Chef Patrick Spoke At GEO Domain Expo (Video)

Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.

Only days before the GEO Domain Expo in New Orleans did Patrick Carleton send me an email saying to send a bio within the hour, because I would be speaking Thursday. I don’t know if you guys remember but I am deathly afraid of public speaking. Just this past November was my first ever speaking engagement to a local business group. Thankfully I made it through, I think mainly because it was only a group of around 25 people.

Ok, so I agreed to Patrick’s demand…er…request (lol) and said I would participate on his Social Media panel. Still nothing prepared, I had a conversation the night before with Patrick telling him I was extremely scared but thankful it was going to be questions and answers so I can rely on the other members of the panel. What came next made my heart race. Patrick said no, you will have ten minutes of your own on stage to discuss Social Media. WHOA!!!

Long story short, I was a nervous wreck and prepared nothing. The other panelists had slide show presentations and pages of notes to refer to. I decided to just show a real world example of how Social Media works for me. I pulled up my accounts (Twitter/Facebook/Su.pr) to show how I drive roughly 5,000 visitors to any website I choose every single month.

I think I nailed it…watch the video and judge for yourself. Before you watch, I want to give a special thank you to Steven Kaziyev of DomainersDigest.com for recording and editing the following videos.

I also want to say that Patrick Carleton put together a great event. The GEO niche is very unique, a lot of different faces from the other shows so it was nice to meet new people and gain a little more insight about the GEO space.

Save Money With Promo Codes

Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.

I love to save money whenever I can in regards to making purchases in general. This rings true with my domaining ventures as well. I think most consumers, myself included, want to feel like they got a good deal when they buy something. Granted sometimes we just can’t get around how much we might have to spend because someone else’s pricing is not in our control. When I find coupons or promo codes that I can take advantage of, you can bet I use them! In fact, I use them all the time. A little frugality can go a long way.

We all know the registration and renewal fees can get astronomical at times. This becomes especially true when you have a portfolio with hundreds or even thousands of names in it. I personally have let names drop because of a high renewal fee I wasn’t willing to pay at the time. Sometimes though, I find good promo codes that ease the cost a little letting me keep some money in my pocket to use elsewhere. It is possible to save while domaining.

Now if you haven’t done this already, finding promo codes can be as easy as Googling the name of the company and adding the terms

Slots.com Sells For $5,500,000

Within the past couple of weeks Moniker reported the sale of Slots.com for an estimated $5,500,000. I say estimated because legal and escrow fees were not calculated into the sales price. One thing that was unclear to the public is who the buyer was. This morning Bodog brand released a press release letting the world know they purchased the domain name.

Calvin Ayre, founder of the Bodog brand, stated: “After Casino.com, we feel that Slots.com is the best gaming domain in the world. Bigger even than Poker.com because there are no strong brands in this space and slots are far more universal than poker. Just look at the amount of space a casino devotes to slots over poker, added to which it’s simple to spell and easy to remember. Slots.com will work for us on a number of levels, not least in generating global traffic to our Bodog branded properties but also to form a number of other targeted websites including one that will be created by and for the female gambler.”

The numbers…

Slots.com $5,500,000
Alexa Rank: 190,107
Google Page Rank: 3
Google Search: listed 8th on first page
Compete.com: 10,209 unique and 15,183 total visits per month
